Why I Teach

For me teaching is about having the opportunity to make a difference. The importance of inspiring students to do better and to see that the world is out there for them to experience.

The Obligatory Bio

In 1997 I received a scholarship to attend the Consortium of Teaching Asia Pacific Studies at the University of Hawaii. This was a wonderful experience and has since led me to work in the area of promoting the studies of Asia across the curriculum.

In 2000 I participated in a study tour to Japan which enabled me to further develop my knowledge and understanding of this region.

In November 2001 I had the opportunity to attend a 4 day program on developing WebQuests with Tom March. This professional development had a huge impact on me. As a Curriculum Project Officer I was always looking for new and different programs which would assist teachers. I could see how web-and-flow linked ICT and the Thinking Curriculum.

In my role as Curriculum Project Officer for the Loddon Campaspe Mallee Region (1998 - 2002)I had the opportunity to work with a number of Teachers through the delivery of professional development programs.

During 2002 I worked extensively with teachers across the Loddon Campaspe Mallee Region on how to use web-and-flow.
Hotlists to WebQuests! is a page I developed to showcase the work of local teachers and to support them in the development of online curriculum.

In 2003 I was appointed to the positions of Professional Development Coordinator and Presentation Team Coordinator at Bendigo Senior Secondary College. This has provided me with the opportunity to create and use a range of web-and-flow activities for my classes.
